Disney's 'Into the Woods' starts production with Meryl Streep
Disney has announced that production began last week on their upcoming musical, "Into the Woods," which is based on the Tony-winning musical from James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim. The adaptation is being directed by Rob Marshall ("Chicago," "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides") and will feature a new song from Sondheim and a screenplay from Lapine. The new movie is slated to open Christmas Day 2014.
迪士尼已經宣布他們即將推出的音樂劇，由James Lapine與Stephen Sondheim編寫的同名東尼獎得獎音樂劇"Into The Woods"電影製作已經於上周開始。該改編作品將由 Rob Marshall ("Chicago芝加哥," "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides神鬼奇航幽靈海")所執導，並且將會有Sondheim所作新曲和Lapine的劇本。
這部新電影預計公開於2014年的聖誕節。

- Meryl Streep portrays the Witch who wishes to reverse a curse so that her beauty may be restored.
- Emily Blunt is the Baker's Wife, a childless woman who longs to be a mother.
題外話，Emily Blunt最近剛宣布懷孕，不知道對這部電影會不會有影響，
但若只是懷孕初期和製作幾個月的時間，希望不會有太大變數。
- James Corden plays the role of the Baker, a hard-working man who desperately wants to start a family.
- Anna Kendrick plays Cinderella, who finds herself on a journey of self-discovery.
- Chris Pine portrays Cinderella's Prince, charming and impossibly handsome, who is on an endless quest to find his bride.
- Johnny Depp will play the wolf, who sets his sights on Little Red Riding Hood.
- Lilla Crawford will play Little Red Riding Hood, a smart and spunky girl who journeys into the woods, finding unexpected adventures along the way.
- Daniel Huttlestone lands the role of Jack, an absentminded and adventurous boy who trades his treasured cow for five magic beans.
- Tracey Ullman joins the cast as Jack's Mother, a poor and exasperated mom who is overwhelmed, yet fiercely protective of her son.
- Christine Baranski takes on the infamous Stepmother who wishes for riches and grandeur; she'll do anything to marry off one of her daughters to a prince.
- MacKenzie Mauzy plays Rapunzel, a sheltered young woman who experiences the world beyond her tower for the first time.
- Billy Magnussen is the dashing and eager Prince who courts Rapunzel.

“Into the Woods” Finds Rapunzel and Her Prince in Mackenzie Mauzy and Billy Magnussen
Relative unknowns – and Broadway stars – Billy Magnussen and Mackenzie Mauzy are joiningRob Marshall’s star-studded “Into the Woods”musical, according to Deadline and The Wrap. Magnussen is replacing Jake Gyllenhaal, who dropped the film in order to do a long-gestating indie that became a go. The duo will now play Rapunzel and her Prince and join a cast that includes Meryl Streep, Johnny Depp, Emily Blunt, James Corden, Anna Kendrick and Chris Pine.
Magnussen made his Broadway debut back in 2007 and was nominated for a Tony this year for “Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike.” On screen he appeared in Whit Stillman’s “Damsels in Distress”and guest-starred on “Boardwalk Empire” and “Law & Order.” Mauzy made her Broadway debut in the original production of “A Tale of Two Cities” and has also appeared in “Next to Normal.” She is also a soap star, having appeared on both “The Bold and the Beautiful” and “Guiding Light.”
Billy Magnussen Ventures ‘Into The Woods’ To Replace Jake Gyllenhaal
Billy Magnussen is in final negotiations to replace Jake Gyllenhaal in Into The Woods forDisney and director Rob Marshall. He will play Rapunzel’s prince in the Marc Platt-produced adaptation of the stage musical. He joins a film that shoots in London this fall with cast that includes Meryl Streep,Johnny Depp, Chris Pine, Anna Kendrick, James Corden and Emily Blunt.
Magnussen was most recently Tony nominated for Chris Durang’s Vanya And Sonia And Masha And Spike. Magnussen’s last screen work came in Fox Searchlight’s The East and Whit Stillman’s Damsels In Distress. He also played an arc on HBO’s Boardwalk Empire and next appears in the Martin Scorsese-produced Revenge Of The Green Dragons. He’s repped by BRS’s Charles Bodner, managed by Authentic’s Dara Gordon and lawyered by Robert Offer.
本來由Jake Gyllenhaal演出的Cinderella's Prince一角，因為Jake Gyllenhaal的行程衝突退出製作後，由東尼獎入圍演員Billy Magnussen演出。
而Rapunzel一角也由百老匯演員Mackenzie Mauzy演出。

導演Rob Marshall導過芝加哥Chicago、華麗年代Nine，所以音樂劇應該駕輕就熟。
Jake Gyllenhaal、Chris Pine共演兄弟，並且會獻唱，這點應該可以吸到不少電影票XD
